Friends of Watertown Music announces its
3rd grant to the Watertown Public Schools!

We are pleased to present a grant of $5830 for a 0.1 FTE increase in music teaching.  This grant allows the Cunniff School to offer adaptive music at the elementary level providing a more accessible experience and connection to music for all students.

The district has already increased elementary instrument instruction in addition to restoring the Fine, Applied, and Performing Arts (FAPA) curriculum coordinator position.  The department now has an additional 1.2 Full-Time Equivalent positions for the 2015-16 school year.

We welcome Magen Slesinger as the new FAPA coordinator!

All Friends of Watertown Music grants are matched at least 2.5:1 by district funding.  The grants provide seed money for positions that are then incorporated into the school budget.  Over the past four academic years, we have been able to provide over $18,000 in grants for teaching positions through the generosity of our supporters.

Thank you to all our donors!!

We also thank the Watertown Community Foundation for their grant of $2250 for instrument purchase.  The program now has new cymbals, viola, violin, and elementary sized bass for students to play!

Friends of Watertown Music is still accepting instrument donations.  Please contact us at HelloWatertownMusic@gmail.com if you have an instruments you would like to donate.  Friends of Watertown Music is a 501(c)(3) organization; all donations are tax-deductible.
