News and Happenings!

With Watertown Public Schools, we celebrate the return of live music:
Watertown Middle School and High School students will perform their Winter Concerts for family members this December! Congratulations!

Friends of Watertown Music remains grateful for all the community support of music!

We are actively seeking members to support our vision to rebuild, expand, and celebrate music in the public schools of Watertown,
always striving to reach more students in more ways.

Contact us at HelloWatertownMusic@gmail.com – we would love to hear from you!

Thank you!

In this strange year, Friends of Watertown Music is thankful for you. In spite of the difficulties faced across the performing arts communities, we were fortunate enough to collaborate with the Watertown FAPA department to present an absolutely wonderful Virtual MusicFest. Please check out the many performances if you have not already!

More than ever before, we are thankful to our donors, the Watertown Community Foundation, and all who have helped support our vision to rebuild, expand, and celebrate music in the public schools of Watertown. The Music Department remains the largest it has been since before we were founded, and musical offerings have expanded to reach more students in more ways than ever!

Virtual MusicFest Launched!

You’re invited… Click here to attend the First Ever Virtual MusicFest!

The spirit of our Watertown music community is as strong as ever!
Watertown Public Schools’ FAPA (Fine, Applied, and Performing Arts) Department and Friends of Watertown Music are excited to bring you a Virtual MusicFest with over 125 performances from students, alumni, community members, teachers and professionals, along with students who speak about the importance of music in their lives. Just like at our Annual MusicFests, we offer classical, jazz, rock, folk, and more!

First Ever Virtual MusicFest!

Watertown Public Schools’ FAPA (Fine, Applied, and Performing Arts) Department cancelled its Bandarama musical showcase in March and
Friends of Watertown Music cancelled its 9th Annual Watertown MusicFest in April.
We were sad….

Nevertheless, the spirit of our Watertown music community is as strong as ever!
WPS teachers have been working with their students who continue to practice and hone their skills

Now, FAPA and Friends of Watertown Music will collaborate to bring you a
Virtual MusicFest launching on June 8th!
We will celebrate the progress of Watertown Public School student
musicians and,
in the spirit of past MusicFests, we invite the community to join in!

Please register here by June 1st!

2020 MusicFest Cancellation

With great regret, Friends of Watertown Music has decided to
cancel
our 9th Annual Watertown MusicFest on April 3rd.

As much as we would have liked to have postponed, we cannot forecast with certainty a safe date for rescheduling.

We are sad to miss out on a celebratory evening featuring enthusiastic performers and audiences. It is always a special night, made more so by the warmth and generosity of everyone who comes together to support the growth of student musicians in our public schools.

We will definitely be back in 2021!  See you then!

(One unfortunate consequence of the Schools’ cancellation of Bandarama on March 11th: the music department was not able to collect donations for their annual scholarships to graduating seniors. To assist the music department, we will allow anyone who would like to contribute to do so by adding a note designating their gift for the scholarship fund via our PayPal link. We will keep such contributions separate and forward them directly to the scholarship fund.)
