5th Annual MusicFest and a Grant!

Friends of Watertown Music is pleased to announce the receipt of a
$10,000 Instrument Grant
from the Music Drives Us Foundation

Included in the grant: hand drums for elementary general music classes and a p-bone trombone, two bass clarinets, and a baritone saxophone for the middle and high schools, plus two portable electronic pianos for the elementary and high schools. The instruments have arrived and are already in classrooms! The “bari sax” and bass clarinets are expensive and often difficult for students to rent, and the schools have been without playable models for interested students. Now we – band members and audience alike – will hear a fuller, more complete ensemble sound as students play these new instruments!

We will be hosting an upcoming celebration of the grant where students will be able to play their instruments and discuss music with Ernie Boch, Jr., Berklee graduate and founder of Music Drives Us.

We would like to thank Music Drives Us for its generous award of instruments that will be used throughout the schools to enhance the general music and instrument programs in the Watertown Public Schools!

And…
We hope to see you at our 5th Annual Watertown MusicFest on April 8, 2016!
